The Risk of Paradoxical Embolism Score (RoPE) was developed to determine the relationship between the open oval window and the development of cryptogenic stroke.
Cryptogenic stroke is irreversible damage to brain tissue due to acute circulatory disorders, the cause of which has not been identified.
A high RoPE score indicates a high likelihood of developing a stroke with non-closure of the oval window.
It is also a scale to assess the risk of recurrent stroke or transient ischemic attack within the next two years.
